Visa
If you are a U.S. citizen, you must have a valid passport with a minimum validity of six months (and contain a couple of blank pages) and have a tourist visa to enter Brazil. Obtaining a tourist visa is an easy process, but you should give yourself plenty of time for the application to be processed and sent back to you.

Citizens of the European Union can get their visa on arrival at passport control in the airport in Brazil.  Adventure Brazil recommends that you confirm your country of origin visa requirements for travel to Brazil.

Visa Service Agency:

U.S. citizens can use the services of several agencies that help you to obtain your tourist visa for Brazil. This service can make the process even easier, and can be well worth the small fee. We have personal experience with, and recommend the agency: brazilianvisas.com (contact person: Al), or search "Brazil visa services" online.  Expedited service is usually available for an additional fee.   We highly recommend using a visa service agency.

The currency for Brazil is the Real. You can find the exchange rate at www.xe.com.  Several automated cash machines are available throughout the village, and Visa and Mastercard are the primary accepted cards in the area.  We recommend using a credit card or debit card for the majority of your larger purchases (gifts, dinners, etc.) as you will always receive the best exchange rate on your purchases.  We do not recommend using travelers checks, as many locations in the area are unfamiliar with them and do not accept them.  We recommend contacting your bank or credit card company to inform them of the dates you will be traveling in Brazil as to avoid any problems with overseas purchases (banks will often put a hold on an account with unusual purchases if not informed in advance).
The official language in Brazil is Portuguese. The owners of Adventure Brazil speak fluent English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
